Sevai, shavige or santhakai, or Saemia is a type of rice vermicelli popular in northern India as a dessert while popular in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and some parts of Kerala as a snack. While typically made from rice, varieties made out of other food grains and millets. Millets are a group of highly variable small-seeded grasses, widely grown around the world as cereal crops or grains for fodder and human food.
